Homemade Facial Hair Removal Recipe

Many women deal with unwanted facial hair, particularly if they are suffering from hormonal imbalance, or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). There are plenty of options out there such as waxing, threading, shaving, electrolysis, and laser hair removal which all offer varying levels of effectiveness, and varying levels of cost.

But what if you want to take a gentler and more natural approach to facial hair removal? After suffering the discomfort that can come with waxing, or even just after a particularly bad razor burn, most women are happy to hear about anything that isn’t quite so harsh.

What we have gathered is an effective and gentle two-step process to help naturally lighten, reduce, and ultimately remove facial hair over time, without using harsh chemicals or painful and expensive procedures.

Here’s what you need to do.

Day One: Lemon Juice and Honey Mask

The first part of this natural facial hair removal process is a sort of pre-treatment meant to soften and lighten the hair that is to be removed, while also providing a nourishing and healing treatment for the skin.

There are only two ingredients in this mask: lemon juice and honey. Lemon juice works as a natural bleaching agent, making facial hair lighter, finer, and easier to remove later. Lemon juice also works as a natural cleanser and exfoliant, removing any dead skin which may get in the way of effective hair removal. Honey is a very effective moisturizer, working to soften hairs, making them much easier to remove. Honey also has important antibacterial properties which can help lessen breakouts and irritation in the areas where you wish to remove facial hair.

To Make the Mask:

Mix 4 tablespoons of honey with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. If the honey seems overly thick or pasty, place the honey jar into a pot of hot (not boiling) water for two minutes to allow it to soften.

Once the mask has been thoroughly mixed, gently apply it to any problem areas and allow the mask to remain for 20 minutes. Use a warm washcloth to gently remove the mask.

After this treatment, your facial hair should be lighter, finer, and softer, making the second step much more effective.

Day Two: Papaya and Turmeric Mask

It is recommended that you wait a day between these masks to prevent irritation, and for best results.

Papaya includes an enzyme called papain that has been shown to effectively break down existing hair follicles, and prevent them from growing new hair over time. The turmeric in this recipe helps to enhance the effect of the papaya, making this a stronger hair removal recipe then papaya alone.

To Make the Mask:

Use about one third of a raw papaya and scoop out as much flesh as you can. Add in 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, and mash ingredients together until a spreadable paste is formed.

Gently smooth this mask over the same areas to which you applied the honey and lemon mask. Allow the mask to stay on for 15 minutes before thoroughly rinsing with warm water.

The hair removal process will have already begun by the time you rinse off the papaya mask. You can repeat this process once a week, gradually continuing to soften and remove existing facial hair, while preventing new growth.
